Hailing from Tennessee as the owners for the past decade of Brookhaven Pub & Grill, the place to be seen in East Memphis, Rick and his daughter Christy Spell are the faces behind La Cocina Mexican Grill and Bar in Seacrest Beach.
Voted the #1 restaurant go-to for Mexican food on 30A, dishes created are soulful and satisfying at La Cocina, and the staff couldn’t be more enthusiastic. With fresh produce brought in daily, Christy says, “I walk into the kitchen in the morning and it smells like a vegetable garden!”
The hand-squeezed juices are vibrant and enhance the specialty cocktails prepared at the bar at La Cocina. There is a new “bar only” menu featuring Juan-Ton grilled steak tacos, Seacrest Ceviche with fresh Gulf shrimp, and Three Lil Puerco’s with slow roasted carnitas sliders topped with fresh avocado, to name a few.
The sauces, beans and proteins are prepared each day in house, and the brisket that cooks overnight is sumptuous and falls apart when ready to savor following day. Menu highlights include the Botanas Trio with roasted brisket wonton tacos, a fried avocado stuffed with beef, and a black bean & goat cheese quesadilla; Lulu’s Favorito with a carnitas enchilada, shredded chicken enchilada, and a beef brisket taco served with rice and beans; and the famous Señora Anna’s Fish Tacos showcasing grilled or fried Gulf snapper served with a roasted poblano lime tartar sauce.
La Cocina is located at 10343 East Scenic Highway 30A, #116, Seacrest, Florida. They can be reached by phone at (850) 231-4021, or visit their website at www.lacocina30a.com. La Cocina does offer Gluten-free and Vegetarian menu options.
